East Dulwich Mural

Upon successfully winning a competition funded by Southwark council and Network Rail we were commissioned to paint a mural at East Dulwich railway station in South London. We took inspiration from Victorian railway advertisements and lettering along with faded ghost signs for this project.

The aim of the mural was to welcome visitors to the area and to become a recognisable feature of East Dulwich for the local community and residents.

EAST DULWICH

The East Dulwich Railway Mural was initiated by Love ED, a group of East Dulwich residents and businesses, and as part of Southwark Council’s High Street Challenge and Cleaner Greener Safer initiative.

We chose to directly approach the East Dulwich locals to help lead the design process, naming the project “Our Words On Our Walls”. A questionnaire was designed and dispatched to a cross section of residents and businesses, helping inform the messaging and design aspects of the artwork, and ensured the piece expressed the identity of East Dulwich, communicating their feedback and connecting them to their area.

This was a collaborative project between Tyler & Co, Hana Sunny Studio & Blue Shop Cottage and painted with the assistance of Alphabetics Anonymous.
